Job Description: Summary of Position

The Safety Coordinator will perform a variety of routine practical and technical work in implementing various components of the health and safety programs.

Job Specification: Essential Duties and Responsibilities

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Responsible for risk management activities necessary to ensure the company maintains a safe work environment for employees
Develop and present training programs for management and staff regarding applicable health and safety rules and regulations
Perform inspections and incident investigations, conduct routine safety compliance audits, and prepare reports; present information to management
Responsible for developing and improving programs for: lock out tag out, hazardous communication, machine guarding and Slip, Trip and Fall
Maintain OSHA 300 & 300A log
Create and lead training including new employee orientation and annual refresher training
Lead monthly safety committee meetings
Coordinate Job Safety Analysis
Follow good safety work practices and maintaining a safe and clean work environment

Assist supervisors/managers in emergency preparedness

Qualifications and requirements

Associate’s degree related to the EHS field or equivalent experience

Strong communication and writing skills

Knowledge of federal and state environmental, safety and health regulations.

Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate with all levels of staff and work well independently or on a team.

Self-motivated with the ability to quickly learn new procedures and processes.

Ability to be flexible, work with interruptions and shift priorities as required

High level of accuracy and attention to detail

Experience

2+ years’ experience in a similar role, preferably in a manufacturing environment setting

physical requirements

Must have the ability to sit at a desk using a computer for extended periods of time, stand, walk, kneel, and bend as required throughout the day

Will be involved in identifying and implementing the safety requirements in a manufacturing environment, which could vary in temperature levels, noise and dust exposure, along with exposure to the outdoor elements regarding external building safety.
