- *OVERVIEW**
The Environmental, Health & Safety Program Manager leads the EHS framework for the Guelph site to support a best-in-class EHS Program, influence behaviours, and culture, minimize environmental impacts and ensure compliance with regulatory bodies and the internal Management System. This is a hands-on role working collaboratively with all leaders and team members with a commitment to continually improve the health and safety of our work environment and reduce our environmental impact.
- *WHAT YOU WILL DO**
- Champion and influence the journey to a best-in-class EHS culture and program, with a commitment to continuous improvement and reducing our impact.
- Collaborate with leaders and team members to integrate EHS systems, create accountability and ensure a human approach to well-being.
- Lead & facilitate the development and implementation of EHS policies, procedures, and processes for Guelph and deploy corporate strategic initiatives in conjunction with the Director of EHS.
- Champion the implementation and maintenance of the EHS management system.
- Develop and provide training and learning opportunities, that influence culture and meet compliance requirements.
- Conduct periodic inspections and observations with a focus on monitoring and coaching team members toward EHS goals and initiatives.
- Assist in planning, recognizing, evaluating, and mitigating risk to the operation to identify and implement actions to reduce exposure and events.
- Direct, facilitate, and advise on incident investigations to ensure an apt root cause analysis for effective actions that are fully implemented.
- Support and facilitate site inspection programs and support implementation of action plans to ensure issues are resolved.
- Lead the EHS communication plan including weekly, monthly, annual, and event-specific communication is taken to raise awareness, educate and reduce events.
- Counsel and support leaders and team members in activities to achieve a safe and healthy work environment, identify and correct known EHS hazards and impacts, and reinforce the EHS work culture.
- Lead EHS permitting processes to ensure operations and activities comply with regulatory requirements.
- Maintain professional relationships with various regulatory and compliance officials, partners, and legal representatives.
- Lead and support audits’ from internal and 3rd party sources.
- Monitor, complete and submit regulatory reports.
- Monitor, analyze, and report KPIs, and trends, with a focus on effective actions to reduce risk and incident rates.
- Other tasks and projects as needed.
- *WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR**
- Post-secondary degree in a related field.
- CRSP Designation, or working towards it is considered an asset
- 5 years of related experience in manufacturing of which 2 are at a leadership level
- A mechanical aptitude with a working knowledge of equipment, processes, and chemical management.
- Previous experience developing and deploying EHS Management Systems.
- Demonstrated experience facilitating training or learning programs
- Prior experience leading employee teams or committees.
- Experience working with government agencies is an asset.
- Ability to create engaging and impactful Team Member communication.
- Results-oriented with a demonstrated desire to proactively maximize the employee experience.
- Demonstrated skills in problem-solving with a solutions mindset.
- Must have a high degree of empathy and emotional intelligence.
- Ability to influence at all levels of the organization through a collaborative approach.
- Excellent computer skills in MS Office, specifically Excel at an intermediate level.
- Must be able to work flexible hours as needed.
